Blakely and Keith's show-stopping wedding was held at The Astorian. They went all out with champagne servings, aerialists, custom doggy signage, and all the flowers any girl could want. When it came to wedding planning, Blakely knew that she wanted her wedding to have a modern glam style with a fun and over the top feeling. Their color palette of black and white brought in the modern look (dance floor, table numbers, signage) while adding gold and emerald green created the glamor effect. A lot of the inspiration came from a roll of fabric her planner, Melanie, saw while shopping at one of our favorite rental companies! “I saw a roll of emerald green fabric with beautiful flowers all over it and it wasn’t even made into linens yet. It fit her vibe so perfectly, I just knew we had to have it! I built the rest of the design around this custom piece.”
Something that was really important to Blakely and Keith was to have their fur babies incorporated into the wedding reception! Their two adorable pooches were on the bar menu with two cocktails named after them. They were on the welcome sign, and they had the most precious doggie biscuit bar as the favours (which included a few treats for cat lovers too!) Their custom invitations had a custom liner with the doggies faces and the Houston skyline (which foreshadowed the beautiful view that their guests would see from the windows of the venue.)
The wedding had so many elegant details such as velvet lounge furniture, gorgeous floral arrangements created by The Tallest Tulip, and lots of candles to give that romantic, glam atmosphere.
We also brought Blakely and Keiths personality in through the menu! The reception featured food stations that included the cheese enchiladas, achiote chicken tostadas, and mexican street corn as a note to Blakey and Keith’s weekly taco tuesday celebration with their friends. These sweet little facts about the couple were custom printed onto their napkins to give you a look into their lives together.
Blakely and Keith really brought the party with Aerialists pouring champagne at cocktail hour and a giant “shot” wall which looked like a massive Lite-Brite from the 90’s that created a breathtaking photo of the couple. The reception also featured a live band and a light up dance floor with their initials. One of the over the top features that the bride and groom wanted was to have their flower girl, who is a talented horseback rider, ride a pony into the ceremony, but unfortunately we couldn't have a pony damage the venue's floors!
When it came to their wedding cake, Blakely knew that she had to have a "geode" cake. The three tiered cake was absolutely breathtaking, with emerald green crystals and gold trimming. Their pups even made an appearance as little figures placed on the back of the cake. They cut their cake with gold utensils with their initials and wedding date engraved into them, they truly thought about all of the special fine details for their wedding.
We loved helping this amazing couple plan for their special day, we’re truly grateful to be a part of their once in a lifetime event.
